"You Complete Me"
And she has never heard
Such a tale as this!
It is either a bald-faced lie,
or a sad truth
A person needs no other person
To make a complete person
Scientifically,
We have our forty-six
Chromosomes on our own,
Thankyouverymuch
Realistically,
A person should be complete on their own
They should know their worth on their own
They should need no one else
To feel their own worth
Don't misunderstand
Love is a lovely thing to feel
And it's out there, and it's real
But no one person
Should need another person
To make a complete person
(Forty-six chromosomes
And self-assured to boot)
note: don't even know what movie it is, but some asshole says "you complete me", and it's always, always, always bothered me

wat u say is true and realistic!
but ive said this in the past. and i KNOW i meant it. i really did feel incomplete. and i know there are a lot of people who feel the same.
46 chromosome may make u a complete body, but its 1 or more people around u, mebbe a lover, or ur kid, or ur family, or anythin u value a lot that makes ur life worth living.
and no..i aint gonna kill u for ur comment on ma poem.glad u were honest wid ur opinion
i love the way u have put ur view.. this chromosome thing..
it surely is stupidity to tel that some one else makes one complete.. it may b romantic for some.. but i feel its jus flattery..
Its really the way one looks at it..you need a dear one to make you feel happy..but that doesnt mean that you are any less as a person without one(specially when people refer to in the sense that a man needs a woman(or a man depending on the orientation:-)) to complete him or vice versa...
Presence of love does make life more wholesome but in my opinion at the end of the day..you need no one else but yourself to be able to establish that connect..to let yourself be close enough to someone that you are vulnerable to hurt..to be out there as one self..nothing else!
manorath..i agree:-)
hi if you see the other, somewhere you think there is the other person, then you are not complete , God is in the numbers.
And it was tom cruise as jerry maguire, who will face this writer's ire..the rhyme wasn't intentional though :-)
hehe..its interesting..even if unintentional..u c rhyme is nt my forte..so..i like rhymes born out of such "accidents":)
i see a strong case of denial ... deep down, u too believe it to be true but are not willing to accept that another individual is required to fill the void in one's life ... maybe becoz it doesnt conform to your self-image of self-sufficiency /independence /completeness
it sounds more like repeating it to make oneself believe that it is true
is the truth so bitter?
Prashant-
Infact "Truth is not so bitter" is precisely my point.I dont deny the importance of individuals who add to life.My disagreement is only with the discontent that one often feels within when alone-the necessity to place one's happiness in another's gaurd not out of will but out of helplessness..to not be able to stand up and say I chose to be happy "this" way but instead believing this is the "only" way i can be happy!
P.S While Freud would have been in agreement with your analysis,i am not:-)
